Commonly referred to as Neo, neodymium rare earth magnets are like super magnets - they're strongest material available. Offered in grades exceeding 50 MGOe, it is the material of choice when maximum energy is required. Neo is usually nickel plated. The Composition of Neodymium Magnets

The materials that come together to form this rare earth material are neodymium, iron and boron; they form a crystal structure that gives the material extra protection from becoming demagnetized, creating a super magnet of sorts.

Safe Usage

Because of the high strength of neodymium, cautious usage is required. Even pieces that are relatively small (3+ centimeters) are strong enough to cause injury if fingers are pinched between two. Their strong attraction can also cause pieces to collide and chip or shatter some of the material.
